How does Ritual define sustainable packaging?
How does Ritual define sustainable packaging?
Updated over 5 months ago

Sustainable packaging to Ritual means the packaging or packaging component is either made from recycled materials, recyclable, and/or refillable. This includes the product packaging as well as the secondary and shipping packaging.

Ritual's commitment to sustainable packaging is rooted in science and accountability. By referencing frameworks like the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and utilizing tools like Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs), we ensure that our packaging choices align with our environmental goals. Our approach encompasses recycled, recyclable, and refillable materials, with a focus on circularity and carbon footprint reduction.

For instance, our multivitamin bottles are made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic, giving plastic a second life and reducing carbon emissions by 59.4% compared to glass. We prioritize materials like recycled PET, which enjoy high curbside recycling rates. While some packaging, like our Synbiotic+ bottles with moisture-controlled technology, may not be recyclable curbside, we're proactive in finding solutions, such as partnering with programs like Pact Collective for take-back initiatives.
